After locating a leak using an electronic leak
detector, we saw cut and excavated the slab floor to expose
a copper pipe with a pin hole leak in this
Hawthorne residence.
If you look closely at the photo above, you can
see
the water is streaming out of a pin hole half
way down on the left side of the pipe. This leak
was the result of a poorly installed copper
pipe firstly using soft copper, secondly the copper pipe
was touching the concrete and finally the flux
used was not wiped of after soldering creating
electrolysis.
The soft copper pipe has been replaced by rigid
copper pipe and silver soldered. The copper pipe was
then wrapped in 40 mil PVC tape for a professional
and long lasting repair.
Here we are wrapping up this Hawthorne
residential job and getting
ready to pour new concrete over the repaired
pipe.

Question: How often should I have my septic system inspected?
Answer: Septic systems should be inspected and pumped a minimum of once every three to four years. You may not be experiencing any problem now, but a full septic tank may allow unwanted solids to flow into the drain field, which is the part of the system that consists of a distribution box, with a series of connected pipes. Each pipe allows water to flow into a bed of stone, that drains into the ground. If paper and other solids flow into the drain field it becomes blocked and ineffective. A blocked drain field is costly to repair or replace.
